What it is

The Leybold Turbotronik NT 10 is an electronic frequency converter that drives TURBOVAC 50 and 50D turbomolecular pumps. The NT 10 can be operated as a desktop unit or mounted in a 19-inch rack at a height of 3 HE. The front panel has a membrane keypad with four LEDs and START and STOP keys. The housing is extruded aluminum. The rear panel includes a 10-pin Phoenix connector for remote monitoring and control, a 5-pin connector for the TURBOVAC pump, a mains power cable with a 3 m protective-contact plug, and a power switch. Two supply voltage ranges are available: 200 to 240 V or 100 to 120 V, selected by factory configuration. The unit draws 65 VA (typical) or 35 VA (standby) and operates at 50 or 60 Hz.[1][3][2][4]

How it works

The NT 10 supports four operating modes configured by the inputs of the control connector X10. The modes are: operation via the START and STOP buttons on the front panel, remote control via two external pushbuttons, remote control via an external switch, and automatic start when power is switched on. The controller includes a resonance monitoring function for the TURBOVAC 50D that shuts down the drive if the pump remains between 45,000 and 55,000 RPM for more than one minute.[3]
